Harley-Davidson Knee Draggers
When you start talking about Harleys on a racetrack, most people will cock their head sideways and look at you like you’re crazy—but not these madmen. Out at Willow Springs this week, we teamed up with FXR’s of California and a ton of other great vendors and sponsors for the inaugural Wild and Willow event, giving private track time to V-twin riders.
Boosted engines, upgraded brakes and suspension components, the bikes out here have been tricked out for the track, but they’re not trailer queens. Most of them are covered with stickers of the high-performance companies providing the go-fast parts on the bikes and littered with scars from mishaps in the past. The riders are wearing full track leathers, ready for business. As they head out to run their laps at Streets of Willow, it becomes apparent who just wanted to drag knee, who was fast, and who was newer to this type of riding, but everyone had a great time—onlookers included.
There was a stunt show by Jason Pullen and his crew, as well as a wheelie contest that Pullen himself judged. We hosted the Hot Bike Custom Bike Show, awarding our Best in Show pick to Jesse Bradley of Team Dyna for his insanely clean Shovelhead FXR, built as a tribute to his dad. JD Customs brought out its crew with a ton of great-looking FXRs and Dynas, as well as its fairings and merch. Kirk Taylor brought a couple of his bikes to the show, as well as some product in his booth. All in all, there was a great turnout, especially considering it was hot as hell out in Lancaster and this was the first year of the event.
FXR’s of California throws events like this all over the state all year long, so be sure to head over to its site to see what’s coming up next.
