Motorcycle Submissions – Readers’ Showcase

Attention Hot Bike Readers! We would like to start by asking you, the reader, to help us with your ride submissions. There is no shortage of Readers’ Rides coming across the editor’s desks; however, only about 1/4 of them can be used. The reason: bad photos, little or no info about the bike, and even worse, no contact info to get better photos or the needed bike specs. So before you put a stamp on that envelope or send out that e-mail, make sure that you have filled out the basics: Your name, phone number and/or e-mail, where you’re from. Then fill out a spec sheet–all you need to do is copy the info from the magazine: Motor, tran, frame, wheels, and so on. Last, a brief history about you and your bike. Now that you know exactly what we’re looking for, we can’t wait to see what you’re going to send in. Thanks!
Low With Lots Of Go
Rich Dillenbeck, from Windsor, New York, was looking for a bike he could rip in and out of traffic with ease. The day he saw a guy on a Sportster flying past cars was the day he knew what bike to get. Rich hunted for weeks until he found this `96 XL1200. It was set up the way he wanted “low with lots of go,” it had all the things he was looking for on the bike already. He just added a set of pipes then ditched the gauges. Rich said, “if you need to know how fast you’re going you shouldn’t own a Harley.”

**50th Birthday GiftFor his 50th Birthday Ray Gill bought himself a ’04 Fatboy. He had always wanted a Harley but felt he was not ready for the Big Twin lifestyle. For a used bike the Fat Boy was in great shape but just needed a few things to make it fit Ray better like a new seat, different risers, and a windshield. Ray knows buying the bike was only the initiation fee, but he hopes to add and change things for 50 more years.

Riding is a Family Hobby
Coming from the sport bike world, this is Jet Hajec’s first Harley he was not sure how well his wife would take to the change, but once she saw the bike in the driveway Jet was relieved that she took to the bike so well. She told him “that bike looks way more comfortable,” and she likes to ride. Jet wanted to keep the bike a good looking everyday ride; something that he can rack up as many miles as he can. He’s also looking forward to making the big trip to Sturgis on a comfortable bike.

Back On Two Wheels
Ten years ago Bud LeCompte unfortunately had to sell his bike, a Sportster that he built in his garage. A paint and body man by trade, Bud worked hard and saved up the money to get a new bike. He wanted to build the bike himself but he knew it would take too long, so he found this bobber already built, it just needed to get painted. Bud stripped it down to the frame, painted everything and was riding within the week, back on two wheels and raising hell in Texas.
