FreeStyle Class

The Hanford, California native, Dalton Walker, started customizing when he was 14. That seed has produced fruit as the Californian walked away with the trophy for 1st place in the FreeStyle class at the 2011 edition of the Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show in San Mateo, CA. His bike, 2011 Split Image Kustoms (SIK), sports a 1946 Shovel/Knuckle mil, Burkhardt Magneto, one-off frame, custom forks, wheels, sheet metal, seat, exhaust, sissy bar, cloth wiring, internal throttle and aluminum oil tank. The hand-built bike required 9 months to fabricate. Jim Giuffra pulled a 2nd place with his Café-style CB836CR Honda Sentoh. Rickey Bedford pulled a strong 3rd place finish with his innovative motorcycle that allows you to reskin it with a different style of bike in a matter of minutes.

SSB Performance Custom

ASUMATI, the SSB Performance Custom class winner in San Mateo, CA., was designed by Jim Giuffra, owner of AFT Customs, for Jackson Rancheria Casino Hotel and built by the AFT Models. ASUMATI translated from Miwuk means grizzly bear, the monarch of the forest. The bike started out as a Honda VT750ST and evolved into a 750cc Honda Street Tracker-style custom bike with race inspired suspension, Supermoto handlebars, and HIPO engine upgrades. The AFT Models do about 70% of the work. These ladies weld, lace wheels, fabricate, and race. Taking 2nd place was Javon Samonte with his custom 2004 Yamaha R1 LE. Completing the podium was Liam Shubert taking 3rd with his 1996 Honda CBR900RR called Darth Blader.
