Among the many wild custom concepts emerging from Buell Motorcycle Company lately, one of the most unexpected may be “The Goat.” Built from an early Super Cruiser prototype, the machine was designed as a hill climb-inspired experiment to test just how versatile Buell’s new platform could become.

The build combines long-travel WP suspension with a stripped-down chassis and aggressive straight-pipe exhaust setup, creating something that looks halfway between a dirt-focused hooligan bike and an American rally prototype.

But according to CEO Bill Melvin, the project may have opened the door to something even bigger.

Melvin explained that the Buell team has already discussed adapting the platform into a more legitimate adventure-oriented motorcycle by revising the suspension height and potentially incorporating a front fairing for longer-distance riding.

That idea may sound surprising initially, but the Super Cruiser’s lightweight construction and massive horsepower numbers actually make it an intriguing foundation for an unconventional ADV-style performance bike.

Unlike many modern adventure motorcycles that continue growing heavier and more complex, Buell’s approach could potentially create something dramatically lighter and more aggressive.

Of course, “The Goat” currently exists as a custom experiment rather than a production roadmap. But concept bikes often reveal where engineers’ minds are drifting internally—and Buell engineers clearly seem interested in pushing the Super Cruiser platform far outside traditional cruiser territory.

If the adventure market has proven anything recently, it’s that riders are increasingly open to unconventional motorcycle categories.

And honestly, an American-built adventure performance bike from Buell sounds exactly crazy enough to work.
