Chino Cholo – A Custom 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King
With wide chrome beach bars, wire wheels wrapped in whitewall tires, a sweeping rear tail, and extended chrome fishtails, one would except this Road King built by AfterHours Bikes to be cruising the streets of California. In reality, this long and clean lowrider was built in Cooper City, Florida, by a company that’s not known for baggers. Shop owner Todd Anglani explains how this bike known as “Blue Envy” came about: “I’m actually not a bagger guy, but I have a customer that kept bugging me for a few years

to build them. When I finally did build a bagger, it ended up being exported to Germany. After that first bike, we built the bike you see called Blue Envy. Now we’re doing two more for them.”
The switch to build baggers caused the phone to ring from a few ghosts of Christmas past. “All my customers from a few years back are mad because I told them I wouldn’t build baggers,” Todd says. “We’re going to continue to build them, but we’re going to do them with our own flavor like all our normal bikes. Here at AfterHours we tend to march to our own drum, and it seems to work out well.”

To achieve a state of simplicity is often the most difficult path to take. More often than not, knowing when to say enough is enough makes the biggest difference from being gaudy or being great. For Blue Envy, Todd wanted to err on the side of less is more. Rather than shouting out for attention, Blue Envy tends to let the work do the talking.
“This bike just super clean and simple—a cross between a Los Angles custom Deluxe Lowrider and a slammed Road King with whitewall fat spoke wheels and long fishtail pipes coming out from the rear of the Paul Tracy bags,” Todd says. “This bike is part of the satin series of customs we built. They are void of fancy tribal or skulls.

So where does a Florida-built lowrider end up cruising the streets? Believe it or not, Blue Envy now resides in the Far East in China. One can only imagine if the new owners realize they are sporting a West Coast-style bike built by a non-bagger builder out of Florida on the other side of the world. Talk about taking the long road to China.
