Daytona Beach Bike Week Part 2
The 2018 Daytona Beach Bike Week rally is in full swing. It’s no wonder pretty much the entire motorcycling population descends on a warmer climate every spring after being cooped up in their own version of Steven King’s Misery. It is riding season! And Daytona Beach Bike Week offers a much needed break from the cold: Warm “Miami Vice”-style sun and scenery (minus the Lambo Countachs and high-waist bikini bottoms), you’ll find absolutely zero snowplows, snow shovels, galoshes, or street salt, and of course, there’s the opportunity for you to dust off the old bike and hit the open road to feel the wind in your face that reminds you that it’s pretty damn great to be an American riding a motorcycle, right? We thought so.
When you get to Daytona, there’s always that million-dollar question of where to go. Well, there’s plenty of fun to be had whether it’s cruising up and down Main Street, parading their latest and greatest—or not so great—custom bikes while peacocking in typical machismo fashion. The people-watching on Main is pretty epic too. Maybe you’re a racing fan from way back and have come to see the racing that draws a lot of the two-wheel fanatics to Bike Week. In which case there’s definitely plenty on tap: Monster Energy Supercross, American Flat Track, or the famed Daytona 200 sportbike races. But some folks come strictly to look for the latest and greatest parts for their Harleys or Indians and have saved all their Christmas dough for that special something from Daytona. Whatever the case, they’re here, we’re here, and we wanted to share our experiences with you fine folks. Enjoy.
