Speed-Kings Cycle’s 2007 Dyna Custom
This bike came to me a few years ago pretty much stock with the typical sweet, old-man modifications like a windshield, clamp-on aux lights, etc. It was the perfect candidate for building a solid runner. It turns out this story is one of those classic ones that just when you thought your bike was done, it’s not!
I had this bike set up how I wanted it when my friend Otto called me to discuss working with Gigacycle as their West Coast dealer. I accepted his offer; it worked out with a new Corsair D front end en route to me for install and R&D. This one thing completely changed everything! All the parts that had gone into making my bike what it was at this point no longer looked correct to me. It was time to step my game up. I decided to put together a budget-build bike that is affordable to the common working man and built almost entirely from the catalog on our website speed-kingscycle.com.
Our first move was to toss out our old and upgrade to the RWD FXRT fairing. This really set the mood for this bike and matched well with the Gigacycle Corsair D front end. We then decided to go for the full FXDRT look with the JD Clam Shells and the Speed-Kings hoop crash bar. Once we mocked everything up we knew this was it.
We then tore it down and drove out to Landers, California, to drop everything off with Joel England for paint. We had talked prior, and I said he could have free range and that I only wanted to maintain black and silver. He had finished the paint in seven days and sent me a picture of his masterpiece, and I was blown away!
Almost every part on this bike came from our own website and really showcases what we do as a company here at Speed-Kings Cycle Supply. We put this bike together to be a daily runner, reliable, comfortable, and always ready to crush miles.
I’d like to give a big thanks to Ryan Loughridge (@loughridge) for always snapping pics of the bikes, Otto at Biltwell Inc. for always helping out, Tim at Gigacycle Garage for countless late-night conversations and making sure this bike wasn’t done until it was done, and Joel England (@joel845) for knocking the paint out of the park.
