Followed by many solo acoustic gigs for Barack Obama in the last few weeks of the presidential campaign, Bruce Springsteen attended the Stand Up For Heroes benefit show on November 6th, and let his Harley-Davidson, a guitar he’d just played, and his leather jacket be auctioned off. Organized by the Bob Woodruff Fund to help injured Iraq War Veterans, the benefit was the second year that ABC correspondent Bob Woodruff and his wife, Lee, raised money for wounded soldiers returning from the Iraq war.
After his acoustic set, singing “The Promised Land,” “Thunder Road,” and “The Rising,” Bruce auctioned his ’94 Harley-Davidson, acoustic guitar, and leather jacket. The guitar was sold for $50,000. Bruce played to the tune of “Johnny B.Goode” while it was being auctioned by Whoopi Goldberg. Bruce’s Harley and the leather jacket sold for $75,000, for a total of $125,000 going to a very good cause.
