Art of Speed Malaysia 2015

It’s that time of the year again when the growing buzz of excitement starts peeking out of sheds and workshops though out Malaysia as the 2015 Art Of Speed opens its doors for a full three days of festivities. This year’s event was held on the 6th and 7th of June at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park in Serdang, about 20 a minute ride from the famous twin towers of sunny Kuala Lumpur.
With 10,000 square feet of indoor car and motorcycle show and 5 acres of outdoor area, the 4th year of Art of Speed was the largest event ever held of its kind in the region.International guests included Scott Jones (Noise Cycles), Shige Suganuma (Mooneyes Japan) as well as Hot Bike Speed & Style bike builder Andy Carter (Pagea Speed) whom celebrated his 30th birthday at the event. The show also hosted the first FIM Super Motard race for the region as well as little munchkins racing pit bikes, skate park, vintage parts market, pin up workshop, old school barbers, tattooists, soap box derby and a stunt show by Aaron Twite of Stunt Show USA. I’ve never seen so many different styles of cars and bikes in one place in my life. Everything from cafe racers, choppers, custom Harleys, period-correct Nortons and Kawasaki, right down to the fully modded Honda cubs, Chalys and Vespas. This show really had it all.
The official presence of Harley-Davidson and Triumph was appreciated – the latter sponsoring a Biker Build-Off between two local customizers certainly didn’t hurt, either. The smile on the face of the daddy who won that giveaway bike was huge as well! Overall, Art of Speed 2015 was an extremely eye-opening experience of different cultures in the motorcycle world, one where fellow enthusiasts could share and appreciate the wild and wonderful machinery on hand. We can’t wait for the next one!
