Harley-Davidson Two-Up Touring Solutions for Low Rider ST
The Harley-Davidson Low Rider ST is arguably one of the hottest selling bikes to hit the market in quite some time. FXR aficionados are warmly welcoming this modernized FXRT (us included!). The shitty part about the Harley ST is that they’re set up for only a rider, no passenger. No passenger pegs, no passenger seat or P-pad (do people still make those), basically there’s nowhere to put the missus when they’re itching for a ride.
You’ve heard the slogan: “the bike is just the down payment for the accessories” right? Well, this rings very true with the Low Rider ST (or any ST for that matter) when it comes to passenger seating options. But in all honesty, I rarely ride with my wife. We used to ride a lot more. But now we have kids and life is pretty much over. But once in a while we get the opportunity to be alone. Without kids. Like where they’re not attached to us and pestering us for snacks or television or whatever the hell else 10 and 4-year-olds crave. And when that happens, we like to try and go for a ride. When there are pegs and shit for us to do that.
Luckily, we scored an uber-cushy Sundowner Seat (P/N: 52000350, $372.95), a set of the Holdfast docking hardware (P/N: 52300646, $54.95) for a detachable sissy bar upright (P/N: 52300434, $221.95) and Passenger Backrest Pad (P/N: 52300560, $79.95) and a Sport luggage rack (P/N: 50300131A, $191.95). You also must factor in the Passenger Peg support brackets (P/N: 50500769, $107.95) and the passenger pegs themselves (contact your local dealer for P/N and pricing). I’m a little perturbed that these items are all sold separately. Just doing a bit of mental math here (not classically trained by any stretch), it looks like the pre-tax grand total for the above-mentioned items breaks down to… $1,029.70, which doesn’t include the factory passenger pegs themselves. It’s probably safe to add another $100 for those, and then depending on your sales tax percentage (10.25% in the LBC, dawg), you’re at approximately $1,215. To add a passenger… Sheesh! Once you can get past the cost, the setup above is in and of itself a great combination and really works well. Our passenger is happy as a clam, and we couldn’t ask for anything better.
