Indian Motorcycle unveiled the 2026 Indian Chief Vintage

As Indian Motorcycle launches its year-long 125th anniversary celebration, the brand unveils the 2026 Indian Chief Vintage—a modern reimagining of one of the most iconic motorcycles in American history. Drawing inspiration from the legendary 1940s Chief, the new Chief Vintage showcases flowing valanced fenders and an unmistakable silhouette that honor Indian Motorcycle’s deep-rooted heritage.
Powering the classic form is the Thunderstroke V-twin, delivering the torque, presence, and performance expected from a modern American cruiser. Built with meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful American craftsmanship, the Chief Vintage embodies Indian Motorcycle’s Never Finished spirit—fearless, purposeful, and committed to rider choice.
“Indian Chiefs from the 1940s remain among the most celebrated motorcycles ever built,” said Ola Stenegärd, Design Director for Indian Motorcycle. “They set a standard that still resonates today.”
Blending timeless design with modern technology, the 2026 Chief Vintage proves that Indian Motorcycle’s legacy isn’t a finish line—it’s a launchpad.
Timeless Design
With sculpted lines inspired by post-war American motorcycles, the Indian Chief Vintage looks as though it rolled straight off the Springfield, Massachusetts, production line in the 1940s. Signature design elements include the unmistakable valanced front fender topped with the iconic lit headdress ornament, a narrow rear subframe, and era-correct Vintage Handlebars. A reimagined Vintage Solo Seat delivers modern comfort while preserving classic style, and wire-spoke wheels complete the timeless look.
Heritage extends to the Thunderstroke engine, finished with non-machined black cylinders and silver-painted heads and pushrod tubes—details that echo the raw aluminum finishes of original Chiefs. Together, these elements aren’t just retro accents; they’re defining cues from a golden age of American motorcycling.
Modern Performance & Technology
Chief Vintage blends modern performance with advanced technology beneath classic styling. Its Thunderstroke 116 V-twin delivers 120 ft-lbs of torque and three ride modes for a tailored ride. A 4-inch RIDE COMMAND touchscreen adds faster software, app-based navigation, connectivity, and intuitive control—heritage with modern intelligence.
Authentic Accessories
Comfort & Style
Complementing the Chief Vintage is a curated lineup of premium accessories. Available options include highway bars, a quick-release low windshield, vinyl saddlebags, premium grips, and rider floorboards. For two-up comfort, riders can add a passenger pillion and touring backrest—enhancing practicality without sacrificing classic style.
Performance & Technology
Chief Vintage offers premium accessories that enhance performance and safety. The Pathfinder adaptive LED headlight improves nighttime visibility, while the Stage 1 Slip-On Exhaust and high-flow air intake boost throttle response and acceleration. Slash-cut exhaust tips add bold style and a deeper, more commanding Thunderstroke growl.
Starting at $19,999, the 2026 Indian Chief Vintage is available in Black Metallic and Indian Motorcycle Red and will be arriving at dealerships in March.
