Reader’s Rides: Derek Cantrell’s Resurrected Street Bob

Derek Cantrell’s 2015 Harley-Davidson Dyna Street Bob is more than just a motorcycle—it’s a battle-hardened personal project built by hand and heart. With over 60,000 miles and three wrecks behind it, the bike has seen its fair share of abuse, but Derek brought it back from the brink with nothing but skill, grit, and a little help from a shop press.
An MMI graduate and former tech at Buddy Stubbs Harley-Davidson in Anthem, Arizona, Derek honed his craft under the watchful eyes of Danny “MotorWitch” Wilson, as well as Ray and Anthony. When it came time to tear the Dyna down, Derek stripped it to the bare frame and rebuilt it from the ground up—dishing the tank, cutting the fender, and handling everything himself except for paint, powdercoat, and the swingarm bearings.
This Dyna is more than a build—it’s a rolling résumé of what happens when dedication, skill, and a love for the craft collide. Every mile is a testament to Derek’s hands-on journey, and every scar tells a story of learning, rebuilding, and riding forward. HB
