Bike owner Brodie Farber is an MMA fighter with 16 wins with seven losses, including four by knockout and 10 by submission. Needless to say, this isn’t a man you’d want to upset for no reason. All customers can be picky, but here’s one you’d probably want to keep happy. Just saying.
Big Nick Zazzi of Industry Customs is not a man of small nature either, and when it came time to put together one of the most well-preserved Harley-Davidson FXRPs all the way from the East Coast, he truly had his work cut out for him. We sat down with Big Nick to see how both of these East Coast transplants ended up coming together and avoided a fist fight.

Hot Bike: How did you meet Brodie?
Big Nick: I first met Brodie in a bar in Oceanside, California. I was getting called out, and Alan Roach, now a friend, and Brodie came outside also. They were going to kick my ass. Later Alan introduced Brodie and I, and we’ve been tight ever since. Lucky for me because Alan is a pro boxer and Brodie is a pro mixed martial artist!

HB: Lucky indeed. So how did an ass whooping turn into a custom bike build?
BN: Since that day we had discussed building this FXRP he had just bought.

HB: Hasn’t Industry Customs always been known with building old-school bikes?
BN: I really only worked on Shovels and older. This bike is the original “newer build” for Industry Customs and I think this put us on the map. I moved out to California three years ago and turned my part-time dream into my full-time reality. Today I split a shop with Arie VanSchyndel of Vee Mfg.

HB: How has the transition from old-school choppers to more modern machinery been?
BN: It was a slow start, but between this bike and Shane Sheckler’s FXDX I think we were able to prove we have these bikes under control. This is also in addition to being an invited builder to Born-Free last year. Industry Customs has grown!

HB: Is there anyone you’d like to thank for making this happen?
BN: I’d like to thank my girlfriend for dealing with me and the enormous amount of hours I spend in the shop. I always got to shout out to Big Truth at Choppahead for getting me started, Arie VansShyndel for taking a risk of splitting a shop with a dude he met three times face to face and for everything I’ve learned from him so far. Brodie of course for not lighting me up that first night at Larry’s and for also taking a chance. Little Johnny Dastrup for putting in the hours and helping Industry Customs grow, and last but not least my mom for standing behind my idea of moving 3,000 miles away from everything I’ve ever known to follow my dream!
