Custom floorboards in less than a day
- Here’s the base and pedal trimmed to size after some work on the band saw
- I drilled through holes that correspond with the pedal/board for bolt up.
- A bunch of excess metal needed to come off on the milling machine to square the base up for the pedal/board.
- I made a relief cut for easier access to the pivot. I then milled the bottom smooth so when it’s folded in the up position the original detail line is no longer evident.
- After a quick surface prep with the D.A. Sander, I was ready to weld up my side plates.
- I cut the 1/8-inch aluminum side plates to act like a tray for the pedal/board to sit flush in. Now it’s ready for a bit of a weld up.
- The finished product was then installed and we were ready to hit the road.
You might remember when I made a set of Mooneyes drag boat gas pedal floorboards in the print version of Hot Bike. Now it’s time to make up something for the passenger. I decided the mini accelerator pedals from Mooneyes were a good size to adapt to the stock Harley brackets. They just needed a bit of shaving and welding to get the desired fitment.
