GPR Stabilizer Install Part 2 | Tech
Remove the bolt and the washer from the triple tree.

In part one, we started removing parts to make way for our new GPR stabilizer on our Harley-Davidson FXR. Now we’re moving on to taking off the triple trees.
As many of you know, GPR stabilizers have been in the motorcycle industry for years. Anyone with a dirt bike, quad, ATV, or sportbike knows the GPR stabilization components are second to none. A few years back, GPR decided to see if it could appeal to the H-D market by trying to help relieve the frustrations of high-speed wobbles on XL and Dyna models. The crew at GPR had to make a kit that could allow the GPRV4 to mount easily yet remain as close to OEM specs as possible. The end result was a kit that consists of a triple tree, damper, and frame clamp that is easy to install, made of top-quality materials, and works like no other steering stabilizer system.
Loosen the top triple tree left and right pinch bolts and remove.

Next, loosen the middle pinch bolt and set aside. You are now ready to take off your top triple tree.

Using a rubber mallet, gently tap the tree so it pops loose and begins to slide upward.

When the triple tree reaches a point where it is free from the fork tubes, simply pull the tree off of the fork tubes and remove.

Push the old riser’s bushings out of the triple tree, and insert the new polyurethane ones.

Using a 5mm Allen wrench, unscrew the bolts on the top of the frame adapter, and remove the damper tab holding bracket.

Loosen the front pinch bolt on the GPR frame adapter clamp.

Since we are installing this kit on an FXR, we must remove the top neck bearing dust shield to allow easy access to the GPR frame clamp’s install location.

Using some spray lubricant, coat the frame so the clamp can slide over without binding.

Use a small screwdriver to pry the clamp open and slide the clamp onto the frame.

After you have installed the frame clamp, it should be sitting all the way down onto the top of the backbone.

Put the dust shield back in its appropriate place.
