Envy Choppers originally started this Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic project back in 2013 as a shop project “to show that craftsmanship can still exist even in a market where fiberglass and ABS bolt-on parts were all too common.” Being that it was more of a personal project it took a back seat to all the paying jobs to keep the shop running, so it only got attention after hours or on weekends. It started off with a salvaged 2007 Ultra Classic frame which had the front half cut off, then it was put on the frame jig to add Envy’s own rake and radius downtubes.

The bike has countless hours into it from the sheet metal to the framework and all the handmade pieces on the bike which you will only see after looking it over a couple of times. But don’t take our word for that. Take a look and see for yourself.

The original concept for this bike was to keep the sheet metal raw, but after talking things over with Enrique Arellano, owner of Got Flake, Envy Choppers decided to add some color.

Another challenge with this build was the brass. Envy wouldn’t compromise when it came to wanting to have the motor disassembled and all chrome parts to be brass plated. After talking to multiple plating companies and their saying it wouldn’t hold up and the process to get brass plating to adhere to aluminum is a tough one, Envy made one last call to Don at Polished Treasures Metal Restoration & Plating. He said he was up for the challenge and was confident that he had a process that would work.

The mix of brass and raw and painted finishes in the motor area isn’t going to be for everyone, but it’s definitely a stand-out look.

One of the main challenges was the fuel-injection system. Because it was a handmade aluminum gas tank, Envy couldn’t use a stock Harley in-tank fuel pump, so an external system was the next hurdle to try and tackle. Keeping the brass look, Envy got some brass tubing and started bending to create all the fuel lines needed in order to get the system functional.
