It’s All About Gettin’ Out
I’m a pretty well-traveled guy. I have driven across the United States seven times, done the Trans-Canadian highway from Quebec City to Vancouver and vice-versa, and I’m not even going to discuss my sorted Mexican adventures. Without a doubt I have seen just about every nook and cranny in North America.
Overseas, I spent a few years traveling around Australia, Asia, and Europe via two wheels and have seen some amazing sites including the Acropolis, the Vatican, the Great Wall of China, and Big Ben/Parliament.
All that aside, I will tell you there is no better place to travel than on a bike anywhere in the USA. Stops such as the Rocky Mountains, Mt. Rushmore, and Glacier National park are a must, but even riding across Hwy 40 on the flats of Texas and Oklahoma have a simple charm to them. Out West and down South are nice, but in the Northeast, a ride from NYC to Mt. Snow, Vermont by way of Lake Placid is one killer route not to be missed after the final spring thaw.
Think of it this way; we live in the greatest country on earth and everyone from all over the globe wished they could throw a leg over their machines and cruise the USA from the California coast to the Florida Keys, and yet we seem to take it for granted.
This summer make plans to ride just a few hundred miles from your hometown to explore the open spaces and the local land that has yet to be discovered by you. Do it just for the sake of riding because we all know that the destination doesn’t matter. It’s the open air and different scenery that is rewarding enough.
