Motorcycle Resort
The Lodge at Copperhead, formerly known as Copperhead Lodge, will officially reopen under new ownership in March 2010. A ribbon cutting is slated for March 31, 2010 with festivities planned through April 4, 2010.
The resort lodge was purchased at auction in October 2009 by hospitality executive Michelle Evans and retired building contractor Anthony Cassulo, both long-time motorcycle enthusiasts from Shalimar, Fla.
“It has been our dream to operate a resort like this. Copperhead is a beautiful setting for a vacation getaway or group gathering,” co-owner Michelle Evans said. “We look forward to making this wonderful mountain resort a special place that both locals and visitors, who may or may not ride, feel welcome and are proud to call their home away from home,” Evans said.
Located 80 miles north of Atlanta, Ga. off of Highway 515 near Blairsville, Ga., The Lodge at Copperhead is a scenic 40-acre resort community located in the Appalachian Mountains along a winding creek near popular motorcycle trails such as The Dragon’s Tail, Cherohala Skyway and Blue Ridge Parkway.
Built in 2006 as a resort getaway for motorcycle enthusiasts, Copperhead currently features 11 individual log-style park cabins on its vacation rental program that accommodate up to four adults. Each cabin has a unique floor plan and is appointed with luxury linen, hair dryers and bath amenities. Cabins are equipped with full kitchens, satellite televisions and private motorcycle garages. More cabins will be added to the rental program this spring.
The 12,500 square-foot lodge is a beautiful, rustic design and features 11 thoughtfully-appointed guest suites also available for daily or weekly vacation rental. A bunk room is available for single travelers. There is covered parking for resort lodge guests. All guest suites are smoke free; and there is a handicap accessible lodge suite.
Additional resort amenities include the lodge restaurant whose menu features “comfort food with attitude.” The restaurant will be operated by Chef Joel Colón, of Charleston, S.C., who most recently worked at the Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando. It will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Copperhead also features a relaxing lounge area; a retail shop stocked with convenient sundries, as well as motorcycle gear and equipment. The focal point of Copperhead is the Grand Hall, a large common area where guests can relax and socialize in comfortable fireside sofas and chairs. There is also a motorcycle garage with detailing services.
Outdoor amenities include a sweeping veranda known as “The Porch” that wraps around the lodge with several seating areas. This is a hot spot for the resort year round. In the fall and winter guests gather to warm themselves at the outdoor fireplace; in the spring and summer the Porch is the perfect place to take in the stunning vista, while listening to live entertainment. A large, elevated pavilion/amphitheater is perfect for picnics and outdoor concerts. A swimming pool, hot tub and fireplace located on a covered patio round out the resort amenities.
In addition to enjoying the many amenities and scenic nature that surrounds The Lodge at Copperhead, this season guests will also enjoy concerts, movies, live entertainment, special events and holiday-themed happenings. Novice and veteran motorcycle enthusiasts will enjoy guided scenic rides as well as safety and education courses hosted by the resort.
