As one of the nation’s largest auto insurance companies and the largest seller of motorcycle policies, Progressive Insurance not only strives to meet and exceed auto and watercraft drivers’ needs, but motorcycle riders as well, including extending its efforts into the women’s market. On September 18, 2008, Progressive became the official sponsor of the Women’s Motorcyclist Foundation (WMF), a group that for the past 25 years has been promoting the safe enjoyment of motorcycling among women. The WMF has also dedicated itself to the fight against breast cancer, raising over $2 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.
As part of the sponsorship, the WMF and Progressive will team up to exhibit at California Bike Week, October 24-26, 2008, in Pomona, California, and will also partner at other events in 2009. “Whether it’s providing motorcycle insurance click here or tips on safe riding, WMF and Progressive are both in the business of making sure female riders are top of mind,” said Marcy Gray, motorcycle product manager at Progressive.
