The Aidan Jack Seeger Foundation’s Aidan’s Ride SoCal motorcycle event took place this past December in Temecula, California, to help raise awareness and resources for Adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD, a genetic disease that severely affects the brains and spinal cords of young males, often resulting in death.

Some classic machinery, like this Harley-Davidson Panhead, participated in the ride.

Elisa and Bobby Seeger of Genuine Motorworks and Indian Larry Motorcycles lost their son Aidan to ALD when he was just 7 years old. The foundation’s mission is to advocate for ALD newborn screening in every state, and to provide information and fund research that will identify new treatments, therapies, and ultimately a cure.

With its deep ties to the motorcycle industry, the foundation is able to organize a series of rides—known as “Aidan’s Rides”—throughout the country in a number of urban areas, including Brooklyn (New York), Charlotte (North Carolina), Miami, Philadelphia, Sturgis, and St Louis. These rides promote the foundation’s mission.

The Southern California edition began at Biltwell Inc.’s headquarters in Temecula, California. After fueling up on coffee and donuts, a few hundred participants set off at a relaxed pace through scenic back roads with rolling hills lined by vineyards.

“The Seegers are family to us and we jumped at the chance to help them organize a SoCal edition of Aidan’s ride,” Mike Deutsch of Biltwell said.

Delicious food awaited all at the lunch stop.

Everyone arrived safely in Fallbrook for a nice lunch with new and old friends. The riders enjoyed tasty eats and good conversation before heading home via a few different routes. It was the perfect way to spend a balmy December day in Southern California.
