AMG Charity Ride
When you go to Sturgis, usually the only thing on your mind is having a week-long party. Well, the American Motorcycle Group decided that if a party is nice, wouldn’t a party to help out some kids in need be nicer? So, with the help of Legend Air Suspension, we were connected with the Children’s Care Rehabilitation and Development Center in Rapid City, South Dakota, to do some good and have a lot of fun.
The ride started at Black Hills Harley-Davidson with a $20-per-person registration. Each participant was given a goodie bag, lunch, and a special commemorative ride shirt made by No Fear. The Rapid City Police department gave us an escort out of town and on our way to Deadwood and Danny Gray’s Roadhouse, where lunch and the silent auction would take place.
Danny arranged for a band to play and put on a feast, while everyone on the ride enjoyed the weather and checked out the silent auction items. The generosity of people on the ride raised just over $13,000 for the kids, along with a special $1,000 donation by S&S; to get us past the magic 14K mark.
We have to thank, in no particular order, the following companies who donated items to the auction — you all made it the success it was — Redneck Enginuity, Samson, TP Engineering, BDL, Covington’s Cycle City, Rinehart Exhausts, Chrome Hardware Supply, Performance Machine, Bell Helmets, JIM’S, Barnett, Baker Transmissions, Legend Air Suspension, Lazer Star, American IronHorse, Headwinds, J&P; Cycles, SAC, Saddlemen, GP Designs, DaVinci Carbs, Joker Machine, and R.C. Components. Don’t forget, we will be calling on you again next year.
