Hollister: Denver’s Choppers Invitational Bike Show

Denver’s Choppers has been around as long as I’ve been alive. They’re as big a part of custom bike history as any other shop around, going all the way back to 1969 when Denver Mullins and Mondo Porras ran the place. Our sister publication Street Chopper ran plenty of long Denver’s Panheads, Knuckles, Shovels, Ironheads, and foreign chop jobs back in the day; it’s no wonder Mondo decided to put the Denver’s name behind a vintage bobber and chopper invitational show.
Nor is Mondo’s choice of venue surprising. The Hollister rally runs all the way back to the late 1940s, where a drunken incident during the first “rally” in Hollister, California eventually inspired Marlon Brando’s and Lee Marvin’s classic biker movie, The Wild One. Obviously, a lot’s changed since that time but Hollister still holds a yearly bike rally every early July. You can get more information on the show at the Denver’s Choppers website.
