This is the stock lighting setup on our Road Glide. It has a plastic shroud over the stock lights, giving it a sinister look—but not enough for us.

Here is the Grille Guard from Trask. It is durable and installs in seconds once the outer fairing is removed.

The OE headlight shroud is removed by depressing four of these tangs, which fasten it to the fairing.

The stock shroud simply pops right off.

As you can see, the H-D cover (top) doesn’t offer any protection for the lights like the Trask Grille Guard (bottom).

To install the Trask Grille Guard, we must first remove the 3M adhesive tape from the backside of the unit.

The Grille Guard has tangs on it just like the stock shroud, so it just presses right into the OE location on the outer fairing. The 3M tape is just for added insurance.

And in no time we have aggression and protection all in one. Thanks, Trask!

Wanting to black out our 2012 Road Glide’s headlights but not wanting to diminish its output, we decided to install one of Trask Performance’s Grille Guards. This accent rounds out and darkens up the Road Glide’s fairing as well as protects the dual headlights from road debris. It’s made from lightweight, yet durable, steel mesh and also comes in chrome for those of you who like the shiny stuff. While we had the outer fairing off our bike for some routine maintenance, I slapped the grille on in less time than it takes to grab a burger from Mickey D’s. Here’s how we did it.
