Harley just dropped a new component on its website that allows you to choose any make and model of the ’08 or ’09 lineup and customize it with H-D P&A. Then you can save you finished bike in your online garage for a chance to actually win the bike you “built”.

Harley just dropped a new component on its website that allows you to choose any make and model of the ’08 or ’09 lineup and customize it with H-D P&A. Then you can save you finished bike in your online garage for a chance to actually win the bike you “built”.

As soon as I heard about this I logged on and messed around for a bit. It’s actually pretty cool, as you select the parts they automatically pop onto the bike on screen and you can look at them from either side (pipe or primary). From paint to chrome, you can lace up your ultimate ride and park it in your garage and then cross your fingers.

I’ve seem something like this in another contest with another company. The design programs are OK. The one complaint I have from both the H-D site and the other site were that you couldn’t really “customize” the bike you were working beyond paint and bolt on parts. I mean it;s be way better if you could actually cut, weld, rake, stretch and shorten parts.
