Growing up as kids, most of us dream of owning nice things. We are often inspired by our surroundings. Sometimes it’s the neighbor down the street with the baddest car on the block or the old man in the fancy house with all the gadgets and toys. It’s those impressions early on in life that motivate us to work harder and turn those wants into haves. Miguel Aguilar was one of those bright-eyed kids growing up. He dreamed of owning nothing but the best but knew that the only way it would happen would be through hard work. “Ever since I was little I had always dreamed of owning classic cars and Harleys,” Miguel exlains. “Because of the time I have invested into my business in real estate, I have been blessed with the opportunity to do so. Having the ambition and drive as an entrepreneur has also allowed me to meet some great people who are now my friends who I call my ‘self-made family.’”

Miguel’s 2004 Road King began in the same place as many successful businesses: the garage. Often it’s those precious spare minutes to do work found here and there that lead to a great-looking bike. “The Harley started in the garage of my good friend Rich Lora,” Miguel says. “The idea was to create a true American-made machine but with some culture and edge.” In the Hispanic lowrider world, one of the top cars to own and build is the 1959 Impala convertible. Only a top dog has the ability and finances to roll in such a car. “I knew from the beginning I wanted the bike to resemble my daily driver: an all-white ragtop 1959 Impala,” Miguel says. “I also wanted to create my Harley with the edginess of my culture and still keeping it classy, so we went with a true Vicla style.”

It’s very easy to get carried away when it comes to paint. But more often than not, less in the end turns out to be so much more. With an iconic American car serving as inspiration, it wasn’t hard to get it just right. “White is the theme to all of my classics,” Miguel notes. “It’s clean, crisp, and classy, and it’s what I like. The pinstriping and silver leafing is what brings out some of the bike’s character, thanks to Manny Cisneros.”

While not the wildest of crazy customs in the motorcycle world, the all-white bike looks nothing short of classy. Now while rolling down the road, Miguel’s Road King can be an inspiration to future go-getters. If you work hard, you too can be a self-made family.
