Tool of the Month: New Snap-on 7.2 Volt Lithium Series of Power Tools

KENOSHA, Wis. – February 9, 2012 - Service technicians will see the difference when they start using the new Snap-on® 7.2 Volt Lithium Series of power tools featuring the 1/4-inch Quick Change 7.2 Volt Lithium Screwdriver (CTS661) and the 3/8-inch 7.2 Volt Lithium Impact (CT661).
“These versatile and easy-to-use power tools provide more torque and longer battery life, handling a wide variety of applications and giving you the power needed to perform each job quickly and efficiently,” said Rodger Isetts, product manager for Snap-on. “Service techs will see an immediate difference in performance, over the previous model, when they start using our new lithium power tools.”
Both the CTS661 screwdriver and CT661 impact feature a removable 7.2 Lithium battery which provides a longer battery life to keep service technicians working longer with less down time. In addition, both tools have a variable speed toggle switch allowing the user to go quickly from forward to reverse and a brake for quick motor shutdown. They both have an over current protection mechanism that protects the electronics and prevents overheating, and an under voltage protection that does not allow the battery to be drawn down too low.
The CTS661 screwdriver offers 100 in-lbs. of torque, a faster free speed (400 RPM) than the CTS561CL and a nine position clutch. The tool housing on the CTS661 is heavily vented and the motor has a fan which keeps the tool running cool under high usage conditions. The ergonomic size and shape of the CTS661 gives the user a comfortable feel that helps keep the tool in control at all times.
With 70-ft-lbs. of torque, an anvil stop and a screened motor to keep debris out, the CT661 is a versatile and high performing 3/8-inch impact. The cushion grip on the housing allows for non-slip comfort for the operator which lets the user work longer with less fatigue. In addition, its small size allows the CT661 to get into tight spaces like under the dash or the firewall. In addition, Snap-on also offers two other Lithium impacts, a 1/4-inch impact (CT625) as well as a quick change impact (CT6661QC).
Besides the Lithium screwdriver and impacts, Snap-on also offers a rechargeable 7.2 Volt LED work light (CTL761) as part of its Lithium series. This super bright light has a four-hour run time and a 120 degree rotating head. It also features a tempered glass lens and a low battery indicator.
